Wilson has devoted over 40 years to the design and development of the highest performing CB antennas available. The higher gain performance of Wilson antennas is the result of this long association within the communications field. CBers and amateurs throughout the world will recognize the Wilson name as thousands are still enjoying the superior performance of the CB base station antennas that made Wilson famous.
In 1985, Wilson shifted their focus from base station antennas to base loaded CB mobile antenna. They found that their mobile antenna did not seem to have the same transmitting power that his 102" whip. Upon further research, they decided to test various base loaded antennas and found that they had much lower transmitted power output compared to a 102" whip. They ultimately found the problem was that mobile antennas had excessive power losses in the loading coil and matching networks. With their focus on how to solve the power loss issues, Wilson started developing a CB antenna that would have maximum power gain and durability to last for years.
In 1987, after two years of development, the Wilson 1000 was created. To prove its performance, we contacted the Lockheed Corporation to test our new antenna on their multi-million dollar Rye Canyon Laboratory and Antenna Test Range. The test was conducted between K-40 and the Wilson 1000 and concluded the Wilson 1000 had 58% more gain (2 db) than the K-40 Antenna (on 27.405 MHz , channel 40). This means that the Wilson 1000 gives you 58% more gain on both transmitting and receiving.
The Present & Future
Since the beginning, Wilson has made great advances in changing the way all CB mobile antennas are designed and built. Wilson has become the standard name for performance in mobile antennas and has excelled specifically with mobile truck antennas, which have become the most recognized and requested line of antennas available.
